What VELO is
VELO is a speed-reading and AI-assisted document processing application for Android (and future iOS, desktop, and web platforms). It lets you read faster using a configurable word-per-minute reader, process text via AI models (summaries, OCR, chat), and manage a local reading history — all with a focus on privacy-by-default and local-first storage.
Acceptance
By creating a VELO account or using the application, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the application. These terms apply to all users regardless of subscription tier.
Tiers & Features
VELO offers three subscription tiers. Your tier determines which features are available and how AI processing is handled.
Free
Default- Speed reader at configurable WPM
- Text input and PDF import
- OCR via camera scan
- AI processing via Google Gemini (Sparks balance applies)
- Ad-supported: Google AdMob delivers ads between sessions
- Reading history stored locally for 7 days
Pro — BYOK
Bring Your Own Key- All Free features
- Connect your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini
- Your key is stored encrypted on your device — never transmitted to VELO
- No ads while your API key is active
- No Sparks cap — usage billed directly to your API key by the provider
Master
Subscription- All Free features
- AI processing powered by VELO (no BYOK required)
- 1,000,000 token monthly Fair Use allowance
- Cloud sync of settings and preferences via Firestore
- Ad-free under Fair Use allowance; ads resume during overage
Fair Use Policy — Master Tier
Master subscribers receive a monthly allowance of 1,000,000 processing tokens. This resets on the first day of each billing period. When the allowance is exhausted, you may either wait for the reset or choose to watch a short advertisement to unlock additional processing credits. VELO reserves the right to adjust the monthly allowance with 30 days' notice.
Subscriptions & Billing
Paid subscriptions (Pro and Master) are managed entirely by Google Play and Apple App Store. VELO does not process payments directly.
Billing cycle
Monthly or annual — displayed on the subscription screen before purchase.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal.
Cancellation
Cancel any time from Google Play → Subscriptions or App Store → Manage Subscriptions. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
Refunds
Google Play: refund requests within 48 hours via Google Play support. App Store: refund requests within 90 days via reportaproblem.apple.com. VELO cannot issue refunds directly.
Price changes
We will notify you of price changes at least 30 days in advance through the app and email.
Free trial
If a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless cancelled beforehand.
Your subscription is between you and the app store. Google Play and App Store govern billing disputes, chargebacks, and their own refund policies.
Content & Advertising
Your Content
Any text, images, PDFs, or documents you process through VELO are yours. VELO makes no claim of ownership over content you submit. Content sent to AI providers (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic) is governed by their respective terms — we do not retain copies. Your local reading history (stored on-device for 7 days) is never transmitted to our servers.
Advertising
The Free tier and Master overage periods are ad-supported. Advertisements are delivered by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (GAID on Android / IDFA on iOS) to deliver personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising from your device settings: Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out; iOS: Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising → Turn off personalized ads.
Acceptable Use
VELO is built for personal productivity. The following uses are prohibited and may result in immediate account suspension:
- block
Automated bulk processing — Using scripts, bots, or automated systems to submit content at scale beyond normal personal use.
- content_copy
Circumventing API limits — Sharing accounts, pooling API keys, or any attempt to bypass Fair Use caps or billing controls.
- warning
Illegal content — Processing, generating, or distributing content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or violates third-party rights.
- security
Reverse engineering — Decompiling, disassembling, or attempting to extract the source code of the application.
- person_off
Identity fraud — Using VELO to impersonate others, generate fraudulent documents, or deceive third parties.
- child_care
Minors — VELO is not permitted for users under 13. If you are under 13, do not use this application.
Enforcement decisions are made at VELO's sole discretion. We do not monitor content you process, but we reserve the right to act on credible reports of abuse.
AI Disclaimer, Liability & Law
AI Output Disclaimer
AI-generated summaries, translations, and responses may contain errors, omissions, or factually incorrect information. Nothing produced by VELO's AI features constitutes professional legal, medical, financial, or other regulated advice. You are responsible for verifying any output before acting on it.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VELO and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the application, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or interruption of service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 30 days preceding the claim.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by applicable law. Disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If unresolved, disputes are subject to binding arbitration or the jurisdiction agreed upon by both parties. Specific jurisdictional terms will be confirmed with legal counsel prior to the first paid subscription launch.
